Dress: cupcakes and cashmere
Ah, vacation! This Thanksgiving, Max and I spent our first holiday as a married couple with his family in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. His family has a condo down there and I get the opportunity every couple of years to head down there with them. Because his parents have gone down there a couple of times a year for the last 20-something years, they know all the best places to go.
We had some amazing dinners, and spent one day in a cute little town called San Pancho (where I had the most amazing, fresh shrimp ceviche, pictured above). One of the things I love most about Puerto Vallarta is the bright colors you see everywhere. The city is known for its art, and I could spend all day walking through the different indoor and outdoor shops.
My favorite day, however, was Thanksgiving. The condo we were at organized a potluck, and everyone staying there brought a different dish. A portion of the attendees were actually from Canada, so we got to try some different dishes than I typically eat during Thanksgiving. We had everything from smoked salmon, to scalloped potatoes, to red cabbage, to green bean casserole (expertly prepared by Max’s brother’s girlfriend, Lexie). After dinner, we rounded out the night with a sing along to songs being played on a ukulele by the cutest Canadian couple. Such a different Thanksgiving experience than I’ve ever had in the past, but it is one that I will never forget.
