Some Brief Housekeeping Notes

Hi everyone, happy Friday and happy Easter weekend! So happy to finally see some sun and warmer temperatures. It has officially reached about 40 degrees here in the Midwest, so literally everyone is outside and most of them are wearing shorts. Gotta love the Midwest, we really cherish “warmer” temps.
Anywho, I didn’t originally have a post planned for today, but a few things popped into my mind that I just wanted to mention and clear up with all y’all. So listen up, ya heard?

1. PLEASE please please don’t be shy to leave comments on my posts! I have had a number of people say things to me like “I wanted to comment, but I didn’t know what to say!” Let me remind you, this is America! I welcome and encourage you to leave comments on my posts, and don’t be shy to ask questions if you don’t understand something or want more information. The more feedback I get, the better :)

2. Regarding subscribing to my blog, I have had a few people have some struggles with this. If you don’t know, in order to subscribe to my blog, all you have to do is enter your e-mail address in the little box in the top right section of my page. BUT THEN, you also have to check your e-mail and there you will find a confirmation of subscription e-mail. You just have to open the e-mail and click “confirm subscription,” and you’re done. Some people have been having a hard time with this second step because the confirmation of subscription e-mail sometimes ends up in the “Junk Mail” folder of their e-mail. So, if you have tried to subscribe in the past, or you plan on subscribing (no time like the present!) BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR JUNK MAIL FOLDER if you don’t receive the e-mail in your inbox. And now that you all know just how to subscribe, you should go ahead and do it! :)

3. And finally, I just wanted to let you all know that I have decided to retire my Hump Day Hearsay posts, at least for now. I still plan to do periodic link roundups, just not every week anymore. Sorry if this is a bummer for any of you, but I assure you there is lots of other great content on my blog that is just as great!

My Spring Shoe Picks + Spring Shoe Trends Run-Down

spring-shoe-picks {Images: 1, 2, 3, 4}

…Just a little preface to this post, I spent a quite a bit of time yesterday on the graphic you see above, and I’m rather proud of it :) thanks to the workbook I received at the Blogshop class I recently attended, I can do all kinds of fun and pretty new things in Photoshop for my blog. Okay, sorry, just a little harmless self-flattery. Anywho, on to the feature presentation…

If I wasn’t forced to show some form of restraint, this post would either be a, like, 10 part series, or contain roughly 100 shoes. However, in an effort to not seem like a total barbarian, I was able to condense my spring shoe picks down to 12 pairs of shoes! When it comes to shoes, chances are, I tend to be a bit impulsive (hi, Dad). You should see my desktop right now, it is completely covered in pictures of possible shoes to feature in this post.
As we (hopefully) approach the warmer months of the year, sandal season is just around the corner. That means, its time to start taking care of your feet again and start making them looking acceptable to show in public. I don’t know about any of you, but I tend to drop the ball a bit with keeping my toenails painted consistently during the winter time (much to my mother’s repulsion).
The colors that seem to be the most popular for spring 2013 shoe collections are red, yellow, white and metallics (is that even a color?). And, needless to say, it’s always safe to have a few pairs of neutral, versatile sandals that you can pair with anything and everything. I have to admit, I never thought I’d see the day where I would wear the color yellow on my feet. But, alas, fashion is so wonderfully unpredictable.
You can also look forward to an assortment of straps (ankle straps and T-straps being the front runners in my opinion), chunky heels, single sole heels, lucite, platform sneaks, floral prints, tribal prints, studs, leather, cutouts, and frontal or rear lace ups. I hope all that terminology didn’t sound like a foreign language to anyone, sometimes I get carried away and forget how normal humans live and interact with each other outside of the fashion world. I can’t believe that platform sneakers are making a comeback again, I remember when I was in grade school I convinced my mom to buy me a pair of white platform sneakers strikingly similar to these ones, and the day I debuted those babies, I was absolutely sure I was the coolest girl in school (complete with my braces and black eyeliner, of course).
Okay, I’m done with my temporary nostalgia. Finally, I present my spring 2013 shoe picks!! If any of you are just really looking to rid yourselves of some money and are looking to donate it to a good cause, I wear a size 8! :)

Spring Trend: Metallics

metallics Calypso St. Barth Erika Metallic Sandal // Charlotte Russe Etched Metallic Bow Ring // Gorjana Graham Leather Pyramid Stud Triple Wrap // Bobbi Brown Metallic Eye Shadow // Topshop Metallic Sweat by Tee and Cake // Aldo ‘Carlene’ Earrings // adidas by Stella McCartney Studio Metallic Jacket // Deux Lux Berlin Weekender Bag // Essie ‘Mirror Metallics – No Place Like Chrome’ Nail Polish //

One of the hottest trends shown for spring is any and all kinds of metallics – whether it be silver and gold, or colored, and whether it be apparel or accessories, it was shown in all kinds of ways.
Personally, I would love to make those Calypso St. Barth sandals mine and pair them with a cute sun dress or a floral patterned skirt and an airy blouse. Also, how cool is that adidas by Stella McCartney jacket!? I would totally rock that. Last but not least, I have been in need for a chic new weekender for awhile and that Deux Lux one is looking just about perfect for me :)

My Go-To Beauty Products

go-to-beauty-products

Physicians Formula Conceal Rx Physicians Strength Concealer // NARS Bronzer in Laguna // L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara // Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Total Care Nourishing Shampoo // Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Volumizing Root Boost Conditioner // Maybelline New York Dream Lumi Touch Radiant Highlighting Concealer // Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner in Java // CoverGirl & Olay Tone Rheab 2-in-1 Foundation in Classic Tan

Hi friends! Above I have shown you some of the many beauty products I am loving at the moment. I am discovering new products all the time that I fall in love with, but these are the ones that I felt the need to share with you all.
I am not huge into hair products but I SWEAR by the Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy shampoo and conditioner. My hair is super flat and thin, and somehow, this shampoo and conditioner not only gives my hair great volume, but it smells AMAZING.
I also have been using that Smashbox eyeliner for like 5 years now and I never get sick of it. I have somewhat fair skin so I don’t like to wear black eyeliner, and this shade of brown is absolutely perfect for me. Plus, it stays on all day long without smudging AND has a sharpener on its cap.
Finally, I just discovered that Physicians Formula concealer and it is AMAZING. Seriously, for a drugstore beauty product it is an exceptional product. Until recently, I have been a little snobby about buying core beauty products at drug store prices, but I have started reading some more beauty blogs and thought I would try out this product and it works just like any high-end concealer does. You can use it to cover up any zits or blemishes, or to brighten up the worst of under eye dark circles and bags.

What are your go-to beauty products?

Spring Wardrobe Update: Professional Chic

Today I am kicking off a series featuring an assortment of Spring (Wardrobe) Updates. I put ‘wardrobe’ in parentheses because the posts may not necessarily always be focused strictly on the wardrobe.
With all the gorgeous bright colors and attention-grabbing, bold prints being shown as some of the most sought-after trends for the upcoming season, I am very excited to give my wardrobe a little revamp this spring.
For today’s Spring Wardrobe Update, it’s all about your 9-5 apparel. Um, can I just say how badly I want that Kate Spade coffee mug?! If anyone is feeling generous, feel free to send one of those my way :)
