Product Review: Dermelect Cosmeceuticals Nail Lacquer

I was lucky enough to work with one of my dearest old friends who works in PR to test out and review one of the new, up-and-coming brands in the nail polish industry. Dermelect Cosmeceutical’s 2013 “ME” Resort Collection is hot off the press this December, featuring some of the runway’s resort collection colors. The three-color collection contains a metallic chartreuse color, a shimmery ivory color, and a bold coral opaque color, which was the color I chose to sample.

What sets Dermelect’s product apart from all the other brands is the fact that they are infused with ProSina, a pure protein peptide extracted from New Zealand sheep’s wool. Thanks to this extra ingredient, the lacquers provide a fast-drying, high gloss shine, while also offering an unmatched level of strength for stubborn, weak, and brittle nails to grow longer and more resistant to chipping, peeling and splitting. Consider Dermelect the answer to all signs of anti-aging on your hands and feet.
The lacquer requires two coats of paint in order to work most effectively and colorfully. In my experience, a third coat may even be necessary if you are looking for a really bright, bold and full pop of color on your nails.
My favorite perk about Dermelect’s lacquers is that they are cruelty free, meaning they don’t test their products on animals. But the benefits don’t stop there–the products also offer UV ray protection as well as claim to be water and detergent resistant.
The only drawback for Dermelect’s lacquers, as far as I’m concerned, is that the suggested retail price is $14.00 a bottle. This is very nearly twice as much as I usually pay for a bottle of nail polish, and being in my early twenties, anti-aging components is not something I look for in nail products. However, I can always tell a higher-priced nail polish from a more affordable polish. The coverage of the Dermelect lacquer is exceptional, and its claims to be a long-lasting polish turned out to be true. Furthermore, after finally removing the polish, my nails truthfully felt slightly sturdier than I remember them being before I used the Dermelect polish.
I encourage you all to browse through their products on to find the color that best fits you and find out more about the newly-introduced brand. Also, feel free to connect with them on Facebook at and follow them on Twitter @dermelect.

*This is not a sponsored post. I was offered to choose a color from their 2013 Resort Collection and was then gifted the polish with an informational sheet about the company and their products. I copied brief supplements from the company info sheet when describing the background and logistics of Dermelect in this post. However, all opinions in this post are my own.

Well, I finally did it this past weekend…..I graduated!!! I never thought I’d see the day. And the most amazing part of it was that my brother surprised me and showed up so I had my WHOLE family there to celebrate with me. It was one of the most amazing weekends I’ve had in a long time. Thank you so much to everyone for your support this past weekend :)
On a different note, the holidays are just around the corner….and I have barely done ANY Christmas shopping. Yes, I am one of those who waits until the last minute. I also have been extremely busy these past few weeks with finals and graduation and job searching (with no luck, of course).
Anyways, I have a wide assortment of links for you all today, so enjoy your hump day…Christmas is only 6 days away! Xoxo

Season of Sparkle

Have you ever seen so much gorgeous holiday sparkle in your life? I had way too much fun browsing through tumblrs, and blogs and websites looking for the holiday sparkle that caught my eye the most.
Between the various holiday gatherings, celebrating the Christmas holiday with your friends and family, and the fast-approaching New Year, there is a high demand for sparkle in your wardrobe. I love this time of year because, even though various forms of sparkle are worn year round, there is just something about holiday attire that has an extra edge of glamour, class and sophistication.
If I had it my way, I would buy new pretty, sparkly things everyday. But, alas I unfortunately have not struck it rich quite yet, so I will have to hold off on that dream for a little bit longer. Instead, I have put together a collection of some of the ways to get in the spirit of sparkle this holiday season :)

Happy Hump Day, everyone! Half way through the week, which means it is getting closer and closer to Christmas! And, for me, this is the last week of school FOR-EV-ER! I (vaguely) remember when my older brother and sister were in college I thought they were so old, like “real adults,” and now I am 3 days away from being done with college, yet I still feel like a kid. Funny how life is experienced and observed from different points of view.
The amount of posts and articles related to Christmas this season is a little bit ridiculous, and it makes me sad when I see Christmas posts becoming repetitive and unoriginal. However, there are still a lot of gems out there with great Christmas cheer. Here they are below:

If you still have absolutely no idea what to get for anyone this holiday, To & From magazine has every gift idea you could ever imagine.

I have been really into beauty products lately, and I am anxious to try out these eye primers so that my eyeshadow and eyeliner stay on all day and night!

Blog Goals for 2013

Hello all my long lost loves! As I mentioned in my last post, my life is CRAZY busy lately. I am in the midst of finals week this week and then Saturday….I graduate!!! Who woulda thunk, right Mom??
Today I thought I would take the time to share the goals I have for my blog in 2013. I think it’s important to make goals in all aspects of your life, whether they are short-term or long-term, and no matter how big or small. I don’t know about any of you, but I am a compulsive list maker. I have to write (or type) things down, otherwise I will forget and the idea will be gone forever.
So without further a due, I present to you…the 10 goals for my blog in 2013!

1. Integrate occasional personal style posts. I’m hoping to get a DSLR camera for graduation/Christmas and I can’t wait to start taking some pics! (For those of you that don’t have a professional photographer at your every beck and call, how do you take your personal style photos!? Who takes them for you?)
2. Break 1,000 views in one day.
3. Host a giveaway (or several).

4. Attend Blogshop! (I’m thinking of either going the weekend it’s in Boston in February, or when it’s in Minneapolis in March if anyone else was thinking about going!)
5. Write my 500th post.
6. Start a new series. (Any suggestions? What kinds of series do you have on your blogs? What have you seen on other blogs that you liked?)

7. Write a guest post.
8. Develop a consistent blogging routine.
9. Update and/or install necessary plug-ins to improve my blog’s optimization.
10. Make lots of new blogger friends and hopefully have the opportunity to meet some of them in person!

*Also, I love discovering new, helpful tools for my blog so if you have any favorites I would LOVE it if you shared with me in the comments below :)

Humpday Hearsay #5 :: Loading on the Holiday Cheer

Happy Wednesday, everyone! The picture above could not summarize my life right now any more perfect. Between finals sneaking up on me WAY too quickly, graduation preparation (yes, I am graduating college next weekend…alert the media), looking for/applying to jobs, taking care of my little bunny girl (which is a lot harder than we are lead to believe let me tell ya….typical girl), aaaand keeping up on my blog, I am feeling quite overwhelmed and exhausted.
However, I did still manage to round up some wonderful links for you all to browse through below:

Made by Girl’s Holiday Treats really have me channeling my inner sweet tooth

The Beauty Department’s post on keeping our cell phones clean reminded me that I never do. Oops.

Even though the holiday spirit is in full swing, there is always room for more, especially when it comes to these 10 ways to decorate for Christmas

It also seems to be giveaway season for many bloggers, most notably the 12 Days of Damsel over on Damsel in Dior. Make sure you enter to win some damsel-tastic goodies!

This zebra wrapping paper needs to be mine like yesterday. Traditional holiday wrapping paper is so old-fashioned. I want zebras under my tree this year.

Speaking of things I want under the tree this year, I stumbled across this ever-so tempting Macaron of the Month Club that I wouldn’t mind gifting myself. This would be the perfect gift for…anyone, because who doesn’t love macaroons?! Plus, it would be a totally unique and unexpected gift that literally keeps on giving month after month.

Did you really think I would discuss the holidays without including the greatness that is red pants? Check out the pairs you need right meow.

These phenom holiday cards make me wish I had people to send holiday cards to. I also wouldn’t mind receiving one (or all 10) of these in the mail with a cute inspirational holiday message inside…and a check for $100. Hey, I’m just throwing it out there.

I hope these links brought a little bit of holiday cheer to your day! I will continue the cheer tomorrow on the blog with Gift Guides for Dad AND Sister, so all you little elves best check back tomorrow for some gifting inspiration!

With my help, figure out just what you want to buy for mom this holiday with my gift guide below. Links to all of the products are at the bottom if you see something you think your mom will like. Enjoy!
