Weekly Wishlist : Peplums, Metallics, & Leather, Oh My!

Sequin Peplum Top | Zebra Notepad | Legacy Coated Skinny Jeans | Cooper Quilted Strap | Loeffler Randall “Eva” | Textured Pullover | Chevron Quilted Driving Gloves | Boudoir Vanity Tray | Peplum Stripe Top | Sequin Elbow Patch Sweater

I’m starting another weekly post featuring my “weekly wish list” of things I am coveting, wanting, and (most likely) needing. This, if you can’t tell, is the debut of this weekly post. I hope you all enjoy, and I turn you all into shopaholics like me! :-)

I know I posted those Rag & Bone driving gloves in my Michelle Obama post, but I am absolutely obsessed with them, and I am having a moment with leather gloves right now, and these ones are literally perfect.

Also, how cute is that cream sweater from Threadsence with the sequined elbows?! I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on that one, I mean, after all, it is only $52…it’s almost impolite not to buy it.

Speaking of pulling the trigger, I have been on a peplum mission for a few weeks now, and this striped J.Crew number is haunting me. Not only is it extremely versatile, but it is shockingly affordable for J.Crew standards (only $58!).

J.Crew’s OUTerwear is so IN

Fashionably speaking, fall has always been my favorite season. In my strong-felt opinion, fall is the only season where we are able to appreciate and entertain the true meaning of “effortless style” (as far as I’m concerned, conquering the effortless style look often times requires a deceiving amount of effort.)
This fall, effortless style is all about outerwear. And, to no one’s surprise, J.Crew nailed this trend right on the head. They basically show us all what “fall brights” are all about.

How cute is this dramatic collar!?

Obsessed with this vest!

LOVE the feminine feel of the bow detail!

I am having a huge moment with leather accents so this jacket is AMAZE!

I am also having a major moment with peplum…how cute is this!?

Spotlight on Style: Michelle Obama

With a wardrobe ranging from H&M to Jason Wu, First Lady Michelle Obama has developed a signature style that has captivated the hearts of many. Always looking polished and put together, her wardrobe choices have arguably played an important role in her attempt to establish a credible and professional image for herself and for women all over America.

By setting her own standards of “what works for her,” she has revolutionized what it means to own yourself as a woman. Often her style is categorized as “classic with a twist,” and she displays this style by rocking exclusively-American designers, and does so without always breaking the bank.

“Classic with a twist” means that she knows how to stay true to her personal style but isn’t afraid to make a small experiment with her outfit, whether it be an embellished brooch, a simple yet elegant pearl necklace, or a bold pattern on a flattering A-line shift dress.  Michelle’s style can also be coined as conservative, modern, classy, and savvy.  She is frequently seen wearing bold solid colors in simple, clean designs.

At 5’11”, she is a wonderful example of someone who does not fit the typical stereotype of women in fashion, yet she has mastered her own style and knows how to work with the body she was given, and her polished and put-together looks are always sure to wow.

However, my favorite part of Mrs. Obama’s personal style is her accessories. The accessories she chooses and the way she chooses to style them are what make each and every one of her outfits so unique and memorable. Her attention-grabbing accessories allow her to make statements with her outfit, but at the same time she is not swaying away from her smart, savvy and chic sensibility of fashion.

Take a gander at some of the First Lady-inspired accessories I picked out below and let me know if you think Michelle would ever rock any of these accessories!

Also, don’t forget to watch the LAST presidential debate tonight at 8PM central and, of course, vote for our country’s next president on Election Day (November 6)!

What are your thoughts on Michelle Obama’s personal style?

Quick Announcements

Two quick things to share with all of you:

1.) this picture. I hope some day I look like this when I walk my pooch.

2.) My new layout is coming SO SOON! Thank you for being so patient. I can’t wait for you all to see it.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year: Sneak Preview of Target & Neiman Marcus’ Holiday Collection

Does the thought of purchasing an item made by Rodarte, Derek Lam, Altuzarra, or Proenza Schouler give you anxiety and/or nightmares of eternal bankruptcy? Me too. However, that is all about to change this holiday season.
Amidst the hype that has been circulating ever since the announcement of this collaboration in July, Target finally presented a first look at the holiday collection coming to stores this December, in which they partnered with highly-recognized luxury retailer, Neiman Marcus.
The holiday collection is said to contain 50 limited edition gifts, ranging from adult and kids apparel, to home, to luggage, to sporting goods, and even something for your pooch, thanks to Oscar de la Renta.
Items start at $7.99 and are rounded out by an amazing FLORAL PRINT bike by Alice + Olivia at $499. I wish I could have a floral bike. Designed by Alice + Olivia. For $500.
Other notable designers include Diane von Furstenberg, whom designed a black and white tree-limb print yoga mat and jewelry box, Jason Wu and Marchesa both designed a set of two adorable holiday dresses for little girls, a very trendy and attention-grabbing lunch box and thermos from Tory Burch, Carolina Herrera stationary, and sexy studded leather gloves by Brian Atwood that I just might have to add to my Christmas list (or gift to myself).
In keeping with the traditional spirit of giving that comes with the holiday season, when all is said and done, the companies have agreed to donate $1 million to the non-profit Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Look for this highly-anticpated collection in online and in Target and Neiman Marcus stores on December 1st. However, allow me to stress what I said earlier about this collection being a “limited edition.” The buzz and excitement about this collaboration has not stopped since the announcement of it in July, so I assure you that these items will fly off the shelves. If you see something in this collection that you simply don’t think you will be able to continue your life without, I suggest you get your you-know-what out of bed on December 1st and go sit outside of Target with all the other crazies and wait for it to open. Don’t worry, I’ll be right there next to you.
For your viewing pleasure, here is the FULL lookbook of this collection here. Also, be sure to check out some of my faves from the collection below because…..this is my first Photoshop collage that I figured out how to make all by myself!!!! It took me awhile, but it is actually fairly enjoyable once you get the hang of it. I can’t wait to learn more about it and get even better at creating fun and pretty things to post on here.

One last announcement….I finally invested in a real blog design, so hopefully within the next week or two I will start looking more official! I’m excited :) no more Misses Amateur Blog.

I hope you all enjoy your day! As always, feel free to leave comments. :)

Piperlime’s Fall “Indulge Your Closet” Sale

I literally cannot get enough of Piperlime. For one, they picked 3 of my favorite fashionistas as their stylists (Rachel Bilson, Olivia Palermo, and Rachel Zoe…if only they added Lauren Conrad and Guiliana Rancic, they would probably have a restraining order against me by now).
Also, they have a HUGE selection of apparel and accessories for every budget. They have a “girl on a budget” section which is my absolute favorite because, let’s be honest, that’s the only section that I can afford to buy things on Piperlime. But regardless, every section of Piperlime always has the most of-the-moment selections and styles.
Another great part of Piperlime is that they have a great sale on all their most desired seasonal pieces before said season begins. Their fall sale is going on now through October 20, so be sure to check it out now and save up to 30% on some of fall’s hottest fashions. Below are my picks from the sale. Enjoy!

Joie “Vanya Pant” Joie is the #1 brand I have the hardest time accepting the fact that I can’t afford any of it. All of their pieces are so clean and sharp and classic, and investment of theirs is a guaranteed life-long wardrobe staple.

Marc by Marc Jacobs “Intergalocktic Messenger” Two huge fall trends in one adorable bag: Ostrich skin and the color green. Marc Jacobs has done it again.

Dolce Vita “Ayumi Python Print Silk Top” Okay, I think this top is my absolute favorite out of all of my picks. I just LOVE the faux leather accents on the breast pocket and collar.

Nine West “Blonsky” The T-strap is such a big trend for fall, and this shoe is so classic it could easily be worn in the office or for a date night.

Collective Concepts “Animal Print Peplum Blouse” Wait, I lied. This top might be my favorite. I mean, this is peplum perfection. If there was one piece from my picks this would probably be it.

Marc by Marc Jacobs “Bobbie Cardigan” Basically, I have a weak spot for neutral colored cardigans and sweaters.

Sanctuary “Buddha Pencil Skirt” I love the detailing of this skirt, and, of course the neutral color. Pencil skirts are a must-have in everyone’s closet for fall, and they are great for the office.

Pim + Larkin “Patterned Ladylike Coat” I am a huge fan of the focus that seems to have been put on outerwear for this fall. This adorable patterned coat is enough of an outfit statement itself that it could simply be paired with a pair of skinny jeans and black riding boots.

Hive & Honey “Trapezoid Link Bracelet” I am having a serious moment with gold jewelry, and this (totally affordable) gold bracelet would be a great addition to an arm party or enough to be worn by itself.

Hump-Day Hearsay Debut: Weekly Midweek Round-Up

Happy Wednesday, everyone! In an attempt to develop some systematic organization on my blog, and, more importantly, to give my readers something to look forward to every week, instead of simply posting a roundup of links once a week on the weekends, that I am going to do a link roundup bi-weekly! I feel like there are far too many blogs on the Internet these days with far too much interesting, useful, and/or just generally enjoyable content to just do a link roundup once a week. Maybe I am just a complete blog nerd junkie, but I really enjoy browsing through blog after blog looking for unique content. Even more proof that I am a complete blog nerd junkie, I may or may not get a rush feeling when I stumble upon a blog post with unique content, and I want nothing more than to pass on this content to others.
Also, moving away from my complete blog nerd junkie tendencies, it is a temporary pick-me-up in the midst of the seemingly never-ending work week. So, without further adieu, I introduce you to the debut of my Wednesday link roundup, (and I have to admit, I am a little bit proud of the name I came up with for my Wednesday link roundup): Hump-Day Hearsay

Remember stocking up on Lisa Frank school supplies in grade school? Glamour produced an absolutely BRILLIANT post about 13 Ways Lisa Frank Predicted the Future

I don’t know about anyone else, but everyone time I allow myself to go on the J.Crew website, it’s just a recipe for disaster to my bank account. I’ll have you all know that looking through their October Style Guide did not make things any easier.

I am going through a border-line inappropriate obsession with chic interior decor right now, so when I saw this AMAZE closet and work space I just about cried.

Just in case you have been living under a rock, or don’t have a Twitter account, I took upon myself to let you all know that Zara Home is now available in the United States as of yesterday. I am swooning over this wooster table.

For all you beauty and product enthusiasts, make sure you check out the newly-launched members-only site, Coterie, where you can find a selective collection of some of the most sought after beauty products.

Last, but not least, how cute is this ikat sequin top from Boohoo? It’s way too affordable too. I think I need it.

I hope you all enjoyed the first post of my Hump-Day Hearsay! Let me know what you think and/or if you have any suggestions.

What are the best links you’ve read so far this week? Any new discoveries on the world wide web that you think people need to know about?
