Must-Have Mascaras

mascaras 1. Buxom Sculpted Lash Mascara, $19 2. L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara, $8.49 3. Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Mascara, $5.99 4. Benefit They’re Real! Mascara, $23 5. Dior Diorshow Mascara, $25

If I was stranded on an island and could only bring one beauty product with me, it would, without hesitation, be mascara. Simply applying a coat of mascara on your lashes is all you need when running late or feeling under the weather. And, to set the record straight, while some say that applying mascara to the bottom lashes is a huge faux pas, I am huge advocate of a quick one or two swipes on the bottom lashes. Don’t be afraid to do the same :)

In my beauty product hoarding experience, these five mascaras are at the top of my list. While three of them are at a higher price point than some of you might want to pay for a tube of mascara, my current favorite of my favorites is the more affordable L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara. This mascara is by far the best lengthening mascara I have ever used. I just love how long it makes my lashes look. Furthermore, the small wand makes it very easy to apply.

What is your favorite mascara?

And just like that, 2013 has come and gone. Can you believe it? New Year’s Eve is just a few short days away.
In Minneapolis, New Year’s Eve is always a bit of a struggle. Don’t get me wrong, I love any and every excuse to dress up in as much sparkle as possible, but when it’s 20 degrees below zero (and I’m not exaggerating – the temperature is predicted to be a brisk -13 this New Year’s Eve) it literally becomes a matter of life or death with what I decide to wear on NYE.
Anyways, if I lived in a perfect world, I would definitely be rocking one of these three outfits above this New Year’s Eve. You can’t go wrong with a jumpsuit, some sparkle, or leather and fur, am I right?

What are you planning to wear this New Year’s Eve?

Target 5pc Matte Crystals Stack Rings, $19.99 6. BaubleBar Double Cone Ring, $24 7. BaubleBar Crystal Channel Double Finger Ring, $36 8. BaubleBar Crystal Cage Ring, $32 9. So, lately I’m loving the look of delicate rings. Whether worn by themselves, or in a stack, I love the edge it adds to any outfit. It’s also a great way to glam up that fresh mani you just got.
My inspiration for this latest craving of mine started when I saw top trend-setting bloggers like Blair from Atlantic-Pacific (see example here) and Aimee from Song of Style (example in this post) rocking more than a few rings on their fingers.
At the top of my list from my round up is #3 (K for Kira, duh), #7 (I love the unexpected factor a double ring adds), and #11 (because who doesn’t need a ring with cat ears?!).

Thanksgiving-Ready Frocks

festive-frocks 1. Dolce Vita Cassi Dress, $220 2. Topshop Heart Jacquard Tea Dress, $80 3. Pim + Larkin Lace Shift, $149 4. Oasis Tyler 3/4 Sleeve Dress, $105 5. With Thanksgiving just three days away (can you BELIEVE it?!) it’s time to start thinking about what to wear. I don’t think I’m alone when I say every Thanksgiving I become the victim of an overstuffed belly, so I like to wear something with a little give.
In my opinion, wearing a dress is the most effortless way to be as comfortable as possible with those expanding bellies, but still look polished.

At the top of my list is the Claudio Riaz Instant Face Set. While the price is steep, I feel like it is a product worth investing in. I don’t know about any of you, but, it seems like I only have 50% of the makeup on my face at the end of the day that I had at the beginning of the day. Perhaps this product is the answer to that problem.

The runways have spoken! This fall, it is all about shades of blue. Particularly relevant on the fall runways are navy and cobalt.
The nice thing about navy is that it is considered a neutral, so it can be worn with basically anything. Cobalt is a bit more difficult to pair things with, considering it is such a bright pop of color. In my opinion, it is all about contrast – if you’re going to go with a neutral navy piece, contrast that with a bright, crisp color. On the other hand, if you go for a bright cobalt piece, contrast it with a more subtle, neutral piece.
Whichever shade of blue is your favorite, be sure to add some blue to your wardrobe this fall!

P.S. My banner at the top of my blog has been M.I.A. for like two weeks now, and I have no idea where it went :( does anyone know how to fix it?! I’m thinking I may just have to invest in a new blog layout soon to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of my blog coming up in just a few short weeks… :)

I always say that one of the keys to a timeless wardrobe is strong basics. And in my opinion, one of the biggest staples a girl can have in her wardrobe is a versatile blouse (or several). There are so many different ways to style a blouse, whether you want to dress it up with a pencil skirt or a blazer, or dress it down with skinny jeans and flats, the possibilities are endless.
These 8 blouses above are just a few that I would love to add to my closet as I begin to attempt to establish a more professional wardrobe.
